Coronation Street star Lorna Laidlaw responds to Aggie and Tim speculation

Coronation Street's Aggie Bailey has been helping out Tim Metcalfe with his intimacy issues in recent months, which is a perfectly nice thing to do for a friend.

However, the pair have been meeting up in secret due to Tim's embarrassment about the whole thing, and coupled with the fact that Tim bought Aggie a necklace (as a thank-you gift once he finally got his mojo back in the bedroom with wife Sally), it could easily be misconstrued as them having an affair.

That's likely what Sally is going to think when she finds out about Tim and Aggie's secret next week, but Aggie actress Lorna Laidlaw has stated that the duo definitely won't have a romantic connection.

"If the writers put it in, I would absolutely say 'No' to it," she told Inside Soap magazine. "Of course, people are jumping to that conclusion. But men and women are allowed to have friendships, and it's important we show that."

Although she wouldn't say what happens once Sally finds out about what's been going on, she did tease that "it all explodes".

"If Aggie and Tim had fessed up at the beginning, then they wouldn't have ended up in this situation," she continued. "But the little lies have built up, all because of the fear that people will come to the wrong conclusion."

Laidlaw also talked about the departure of Nathan Graham, who plays her on-screen son James, stating: "I'm filling up just thinking about it. My two on-screen boys are not much different in age to my real sons, I found it quite emotional.

"We've been a really strong unit — we were all thrown into this together, and to have someone you can hold hands with was just so wonderful. So I was gutted to lose that young man."
