Coronation Street first look at gun drama in Kelly Neelan exit plot

Coronation Street is ready to say goodbye to Millie Gibson as her character Kelly Neelan's revenge plot goes terribly wrong tonight (September 23).

In previous episodes, Kelly decided to exact the ultimate revenge on Gary Windass (Mikey North) after she discovered he had killed her father Rick (Greg Wood) three years prior.

In an unlikely move, she hired her kidnapper Kieron Edgerton (Pat Lally) to murder Gary during her own engagement party to Aadi (Adam Hussain).

Shortly afterwards, however, she started having second thoughts. But Kieron isn't really the reasonable type and didn't step back, revealing a dark fate awaited Kelly as her plan tragically backfired.

In a dramatic twist tonight, Kieron forces both Kelly and Gary onto a rooftop, where he spills details of his own masterplan. He intends to kill Kelly and pin Gary's death on her, making it look like murder-suicide.

As a gunshot rings out, not all characters will survive.

Gibson recently weighed in on a change of personality for Kelly in her exit storyline, feeling Rick's bellicose influence and making rash decisions.

"I'm excited to see how it comes across, because it's like Kelly Neelan is a proper Neelan in this storyline – she's not the new Kelly that she's found herself to be. She really starts to change in the period after she finds out about her dad," she recently told Digital Spy and other media.

The actress is leaving the cobbles behind after three years in the role of Kelly, with her first appearance dating back to June 2019.
