Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Stu's past has well and truly come back to haunt him in Coronation Street, and it looks as though he could be set for even more trouble in scenes to air on the ITV soap next week.

Stu was sent to prison for the murder of a woman called Charlie. But in a further twist, he is adamant that he was innocent and that the only reason he confessed was due to a heavy-handed corrupt detective.

Yasmeen, Alya, and Zeedan all believe Stu and have promised to do all that they can to help clear his name. And Yasmeen doubles down on that next week when she sees how bad things have gotten at Speed Daal because of the reputation that Stu has.

But Bridget only backs up what her mum said, and she does not take well to the questioning and even threatens to call the police.

But another lead soon comes along when Dee-Dee finds the address of Lennox, the officer originally in charge of Stu's case – but Stu takes it upon himself to head straight there.

As Stu bangs on Lennox's door to demand answers, is he about to make things a whole lot worse for himself than they already were?

As for newcomer Channique Sterling-Brown, whose character Dee-Dee is set to play a vital part in Stu's storyline, it turns out that playing a lawyer is not a stretch for her.

Speaking to Digital Spy about joining the show, Sterling-Brown revealed that she was originally going to be a lawyer herself:

"I was originally not going to do drama school and I was going to train in law," she explained. "I got a place at a law school, but at the last minute I pulled out and decided to pursue drama school."

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV and streams on the ITV Hub.
