Corrie star Bill Fellows predicts fan shock over Stu's secrets

Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Stu has been going through a tough time in Coronation Street. His friendship with Yasmeen looks like it could be set for some trouble, and it sounds like some further shocks are on the way as we learn more about him.

While speaking to Digital Spy and other press about what is coming up for his character, actor Bill Fellows teased more secrets that Stu is hiding, while also hinting at what's next for him.

This week's scenes will see Stu trying to reconnect with his daughter Bridget, who he has not seen since she was a child.

"He's got her address, but he hasn’t seen her in years," explained Fellows. "She's grown up a lot. There's a lot of fear, he's so frightened of being rejected, but he's excited too – he hopes it will work out.

"He's willing to take the risk, despite the fear. The house is nice, and Stu realises she's done really well."

But the reunion does not go well as Stu finds himself rejected by her.

"He is so heartbroken," Fellows added. "It really gets him down. But who wouldn't be? I'm not 100% sure what he would expect. Sometimes he doesn't quite think things through!"

While Stu wrestles with what happened, he decides to lie to Yasmeen about how his reunion with Bridget went, something that will likely cause problems when she finds out the truth.

"He's been rejected and hurt really badly, but ultimately he doesn't really want to talk about it anymore," Fellows said. "It's just like grief. He wants to put it in the past. It's not a nasty lie, he just doesn't want to talk about it."

But as Corrie fans know, Yasmeen will likely be reminded of a dark chapter of her recent past when she learns that she has been lied to.

“He didn’t mean any harm by it. He doesn't know a great deal about Geoff, but the audience know she went through a terrible time. Stu is the polar opposite of Geoff, but he does tell white lies!"

Fellows also hinted that the positive reception he has received from audiences so far may be tested in the coming weeks.

"Eventually all the lies build up," he teased. "I think the audience will be shocked and surprised. Will they believe him? There's so much to discuss. This is just the start."
