Coronation Street star teases Kevin and Abi's big new setback

Coronation Street star Michael Le Vell has hinted that Kevin and Abi Webster are set to face another sad setback in the coming weeks.

The actor, who plays long-time Weatherfield resident Kevin Webster, has explained his character's upcoming outburst on the cobbles, admitting that he "has been trying to spin too many plates".

As he continues to prepare for Abi and baby son Alfie's return home, Kevin buckles under the pressure trying to keep things ticking over both at Number 13 and the garage.

"He has been focusing on Abi, running the business, taking on Aaron at the garage and trying to teach him, and then this arrogant Canadian who he doesn't really know comes in demanding his car be fixed," Michael explained.

"He needs to be at Jack's leaver's speech day and everything comes to a head. He also has the issue with Jack playing up at school. Everything gets on top of Kevin and he just flips his lid."

After Kevin attacks Stephen Reid's car with a wrench, he immediately regrets his actions and is "terrified that social services will find out about he has done".

"The enormity of what he has done is not lost on him," Michael admitted. "He tries to sort it without telling Abi, but of course keeping secrets is probably the worst thing he could do – especially with everything they have been through."

When the police later turn up at Number 13, Michael reveals that it's as though Kevin's "worst nightmare" has come true. "He has really messed up," the actor added.

"If they have come to arrest him, it is game over for them all with regards to Abi moving back in. His heart just sinks and he thinks, 'This is it. I've messed everything up for one moment of madness'."

Despite the good news from social services that Abi and Alfie are able to move back in with Kevin and Jack, Abi ultimately decides to wait a little longer and give Kevin some space.

Teasing his character's response to Abi's decision, Michael added: "Kevin is absolutely gutted when he finds her with her bags packed, but she is adamant that it is the right thing to do.

"It is actually Jack who steps forward to try and save the day, but it might be too late."
