Last year, Sally opened up about the original plan to have their wedding at Christmas, telling The Mirror: "I'm obsessed with Christmas, so when Joe said: 'What's your favourite time, when would you most like to do it?' it had to be Christmas.

"We're going to have the wedding late afternoon, so it will be dark, and it will be lit by rows of Christmas trees and twinkly lights; I can't wait.

"We should have been getting married this December, but we put it to next year because we didn't know what the score was going to be COVID-wise.

"We thought it was better safe than sorry, because I would have hated to have arranged it and then not be able to do it properly."

Speaking previously about their home life and whether they run lines together, Sally shared with Inside Soap: "Ha ha, actually, yes! We don't practice our lines together as such, but there are times I might be reading Sally [Metcalfe] if we're in the car and he can't hold the script in his hand.

"On the whole we tend to do it our own way, but there have been moments when we've done that. It's good fun!"

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV and streams on the ITV Hub.
