Coronation Street spoilers follow.
Coronation Street has revealed that Todd Grimshaw will be hospitalised in a hit and run accident.
Todd (Gareth Pierce) is rushed in for emergency treatment after being knocked over by Shona Platt.
In next week's episodes, a panicking Shona (Julia Goulding) tells her husband David that she went to move his car but accidentally hit something in the process.
Shona explains that she was scared and drove off, rather than checking to see exactly what had happened.

David (Jack P Shepherd) and Shona return to the scene of the accident and find nothing, so they brush off the incident and ask Abi Franklin to mend the dent in the car.
Later, however, word reaches the Platts that Todd has been the victim of a hit and run and is now in hospital.
Abi is quick to link the two incidents and confronts Shona, but agrees not to go to the police when she hears what happened.
David then focuses on a cover-up by hiding the car. He also plans to pay Todd a visit in hospital to check how much he remembers.

The signs could be good for the Platts on this front, as when a battered and bruised Todd regains consciousness, he tells Eileen (Sue Cleaver) that he can't remember much about what happened.
Later in the week, local policeman Craig Tinker (Colson Smith) visits David and reveals that his car has been found dumped in a pub car park miles away with a huge dent in it.
Before long, Craig arrests David on suspicion of failing to stop and report a road traffic accident.

At the police station, Craig confronts David with the evidence, explaining that the paint fragments on Todd's clothes match those of the car.
However, Craig later tells David that new evidence has come to light and he is free to go. Does this mean Shona has done the right thing?
Coronation Street airs these scenes on Monday, August 9 and Wednesday, August 11 at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
