Weatherfield could be about to wave goodbye to Evelyn Plummer, who'll consider a shock exit in upcoming Coronation Street scenes.
The drama will unravel in early 2021 when Evelyn continues to battle her feelings for former love interest Arthur Medwin.
Upon seeing him approach holding a bouquet of flowers, she's quick to tell him where to shove his romantic gestures (given their recent tension), but the truth behind them knocks her down a peg.

Speaking to George Shuttleworth later on, Evelyn discovers that Arthur's wife Beryl's funeral had taken place and the flowers were actually for her.

Gripped by guilt, she apologises to Arthur for her behaviour and tells him how sorry she is to hear the news.
It turns out that Arthur is moving back to Canada the next day, but there's an even bigger twist in the tale... he wants Evelyn to go with him!
A few days further along, a still-stunned Evelyn reveals to her grandson Tyrone Dobbs that she's considering Arthur's bold offer, but will she really leave the street?

Meanwhile, actress Maureen Lipman previously opened up about joining the soap and confessed that she feared she'd annoy her castmates when she first landed her gig on the ITV show as Evelyn.
"There's always that feeling when you join something new that the regulars will be slightly cheesed off that you've come," she explained to Prima magazine.
"They have their jokes, they have their seats, then you arrive seeming a bit aloof because you're actually more nervous than they know. It was a bit like going back to school!"
Coronation Street airs these scenes in the week commencing Monday, January 4 on ITV.
