Coronation Street actor Ian Bartholomew has had to do and say some horrible things in his role as abusive Geoff Metcalfe, and he has admitted he has been "horrified" by some of the scenes he has taken part in.
Obviously he is just playing a character, and it's a storyline that has raised awareness of coercive control and domestic abuse, but there was one bit that he has refused to do.
In an interview with Cheshire Life, the actor wouldn't be drawn out on which line he wouldn't say, but he felt it just went too far.

"[Coronation Street creator] Tony Warren said, 'Act it the way you want them to write for you', and that is what I have tried to do with Geoff," he explained.
Bartholomew went on to add that he will always be proud of the part – not just because it's a meaty role, but it has also opened the door for him to work with charities and do good work.

Geoff and Yasmeen's storyline was recently confirmed to be a huge part of the soap's 60th anniversary celebrations in early December, and with Yasmeen in prison awaiting a court appearance, and Geoff losing allies on the outside, it is certainly building to a dramatic peak.

Before we get to that though, Geoff is going to cause a huge upset when he finds out Tim and Sally haven't invited him to their wedding, while Yasmeen will make a devastating admission to Alya.
Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday nights at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
