Coronation Street star Julia Goulding has revealed more details of the sinkhole drama coming up for the Platt family this week.
Friday's hour-long episode (September 11) sees the Platts left stunned as a sinkhole opens up in their back garden, which leads to the property being deemed unsafe to live in.
In a new chat with Digital Spy and other media, Julia – who plays Shona Platt – has now confirmed that her character will be closely involved in the surprising scenes.
The drama kicks off when David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) discovers that Shona is planning to leave Weatherfield again, convinced that he hates the recent change in her personality.

David arranges a family barbecue to convince Shona to stay. He invites Roy Cropper's niece Nina Lucas (Mollie Gallagher) along too, grateful for her recent attempts to play matchmaker between him and Shona.
Speaking to us about the episode, Julia explained: "Shona and David are starting to date again. Shona has sparked up a lovely relationship with Nina, because they're living together.
"They go round to the Platts' for a barbecue. Shona is obsessed with this trampoline in the back garden, which belongs to Lily. She just wants to bounce on it – which, as a woman who's just had a baby, was quite challenging!
"She's jumping on this trampoline loads, but this is really frustrating David. David, Sarah and Nina go back into the house and suddenly there's this big rumbling, with the ground shaking.

"They come back out again and there's no Shona – and a massive hole in the garden! It's quite tense for a few seconds, until Shona appears again, really nonplussed that there's a hole in the back garden. So yeah, it's a big sinkhole!"
When David calls in an engineer from the water company, he's told that the house is unstable and he'll have to find somewhere else to live for a while.
Local businessman Ray Crosby (Mark Frost) then offers to put the Platts up in one of his hotels, much to Shona's excitement.
Asked whether Shona still loves David deep down, Julia replied: "She genuinely has no recollection of him or the love that she felt for him. It is very much getting to know each other again – and learning who he is.

"Shona is learning how to love him – and falling back in love with him, which we're starting to see happen. Everything about him she fell in love with is still there. I think she will eventually go through those steps again, as she did when she first met him.
"I think the harder thing is for David to fall back in love with her, because she's a completely different person, while he isn't.
"I'm really rooting for Shona and David to get back together. I can't wait for them to be together. I don't think the drama is going to stop – I think it's going to continue, even when they're back together. I think it's going to be really lovely to see – and lovely for us to play out as well."
Coronation Street currently airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm on ITV.
