Coronation Street actress Sally Ann Matthews and her co-star Simon Gregson's wife Emma Gleave have clashed on Twitter over the subject of paid video messages.

Sally Ann, who plays Jenny Connor on the ITV soap, replied to a fan on Twitter who had spoken about buying a signed cast photo from a seller on eBay and advised them not to pay for it.

"Write to us at Trafford Wharf Road. We do them for free! You should never pay for an autograph (or a video message come to that)," she wrote.

Another fan then replied to her writing, "Exactly how it should be. Making cash from birthday messages is another issue for me. Don't get me started!" to which Sally Ann replied, "Oh I hear ya".

However Emma, who is married to Steve McDonald actor Simon, seemed to view this as a swipe at other actors who charge for video messages, including her husband who is offering personalised videos for £30 each on CelebVM.

"Wow!!!! Nothing like sticking together with your work colleagues!" Emma replied in a tweet which she has since deleted, but which can be viewed in an article by The Sun.

Sally Ann does not appear to have replied to this message and tweets relating to it have since been deleted.

Sally Ann's Corrie character Jenny is facing some potential drama next week when her husband Johnny (Richard Hawley) finally returns to the cobbles after staying in France for months.

Jenny has been very unimpressed at being left on her own for so long and when Johnny returns she demands that he tell her what he has been hiding.

Johnny is insistent that he just needed some more time to himself but the real reason for his staying away is hinted at when Rovers lodger Scott Emberton (Tom Roberts), who Johnny has appeared rattled by from the moment he arrived, approaches Johnny and tells him that it's about time they had a chat.

Will we finally find out what Johnny has been hiding?

Coronation Street currently airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm on ITV.
