Coronation Street star Andy Whyment will be sticking around the cobbles for at least another year.

The Corrie mainstay shared on Instagram on Thursday (July 29) that he'd been offered a new contract by the ITV soap. As any I'm a Celebrity fan will remember, there was only one way for Andy to celebrate the big news – by having a Bacardi and Diet Coke!

"I've been offered a new 12-month contract to Coronation Street, so I'm celebrating," he beamed. "I'm extremely happy!"

Whyment is currently on his 20th year in Coronation Street as the lovable Kirk, and seems as dedicated as ever to keeping his spot in Weatherfield.

"I don't think that's ever going to happen, nobody can touch Bill, but I certainly have no desire to leave," he told OK! Magazine. "When I came out of the jungle, people asked me if I wanted to do other things but I don't.

"Coronation Street has always been my bread and butter and I'm very lucky that I enjoy what I do. You can't ask for more than that. Also when I was in The Royle Family and filming in London, I couldn't wait to get home and realised how much of a northern boy I am."

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm on ITV.
