The casts of Coronation Street and Emmerdale have been assured "financial security" during the nationwide lockdown.
A spokesperson for the soaps announced that an agreement with the Equity trade union has guaranteed that the actors who have been put out of work by the filming stoppage will not go without compensation.
"Coronation Street and Emmerdale have reached an agreement with Equity to provide financial security for regular cast members for the next three months," a representative told The Sun.
"The specific details of this agreement will remain private as this is a contractual matter."

Earlier today, it was reported that other Coronation Street and Emmerdale staff have been placed on furlough by ITV Studios following the shutdown.

Both ITV soaps were forced to suspend filming on March 22 to ensure the "health and well-being of the production teams, actors, crew and their families", after struggling to carrying on production initially.
Coronation Street and Emmerdale has thus had to cut down its weekly schedule to airing just on three days per week, which has caused some timeline issues that will continue over the next few weeks.
ITV has also issued a disclaimer to explain why viewers would not be seeing the residents of Weatherfield and Emmerdale social distancing in episodes shot months earlier.

"As both Coronation Street and Emmerdale film many weeks before they air on ITV, episodes will continue to feature scenes set in The Rovers and Woolpack and other communal areas."
They added: "Although the Government's latest guidelines indicate that people should avoid such public spaces, we'd ask viewers to make allowances for the fact that filming took place before the coronavirus pandemic and to make sure they follow the most recent Government health advice."
Emmerdale and Coronation Street air on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7pm and 7.30pm respectively.
