David Platt's run-in with a crew of thugs proved too much for some Coronation Street viewers on Monday night (March 30).

The scene in question saw an inebriated David toss an empty beer can towards a hooded gang, but their initial threats only amused him.

They shoved him up against a wall and demanded that he hand over his wallet and phone.

A handful of Corrie fans who found the moment too full-on also took to social media to share their thoughts.

One tweet read: "Coronation street tonight - showing gang with knife threatening David - why show this it's disgusting.Demonstrating to idiots out there how it's done - unacceptable and irresponsible !"

"That was too much for me im a mess seeing that," added someone else.

Did it go too far, or was this an example of the real-life authenticity Corrie does so well?
