Coronation Street's Ali Neeson seems to have waved goodbye to Weatherfield for good as vengeful Gary Windass comes out on top yet again.
The disgraced GP practitioner appeared to have finally reached breaking point, as he told Ryan (Ryan Prescott) that he had to leave in order to stop seeing ex-girlfriend Maria (Samia Longchambon) spending time "with that psychopath day-in and day-out."
"I can't do this anymore," Ali (James Burrows) explained. "He's a snake and I'm made out to be the bad guy. I need to go. I can't be here. I'm leaving... today."
Gutted by his friend's decision, Ryan convinced Ali to have a pint – or more accurately, an orange juice – in the Rovers Return before heading off.

There, he bumped into Maria, where she apologised for how things turned out between them and he said he hopes he's wrong about Gary (Mikey North) because he thinks she's "great."

Tensions had been rising between the pair ever since Gary started dating Maria after her relationship with Ali broke down last year. Things escalated, however, when Gary discovered that Maria, whom he'd recently proposed to, had slept with her ex.
Hellbent on exacting revenge, Gary turned to glorified henchwoman Sharon (Naomi Cooper Davies) to "ruin" Ali, making it look like the former drug addict was using again and causing the Rosamund Street Medical Centre to let him go.

Realising what he'd done, Ali lashed out and punched Gary on the cobbles - which saw him get arrested and realise that Gary is always going to be one step ahead of him.
Despite spotting Gary chatting to Sharon in tonight's episode (13 March), Ali decided he could never win against the villainous loan shark and opted to drive away rather than get even.
