Coronation Street fans have watched Shona Ramsey fight for her life in recent weeks, after she was shot by Derek Milligan in the soap's Christmas Day special.
After Shona was caught in the crossfire of Gary Windass' feud with Derek over Christmas, her husband David was warned by doctors that Shona may never make a full recovery from her gunshot wound.
News about Shona's condition has been worrying so far, but her husband David (Jack P Shepherd) may have finally received some good news in tonight's (January 6) hour-long episode.
After initially refusing to allow the doctors to remove Shona's breathing tube as a test to see whether she could breathe on her own, David told Nick to ask all of Shona's friends and family to come and visit her, fearing the worst.

After Billy, Eileen, Roy, Audrey, Sarah and Gail all had a chance to see Shona, the consultant removed Shona's breathing tube.

At first it looked like the staff's experiment was going to fail, because as soon as they removed the tube, it became clear that Shona wasn't taking in oxygen independently.
But later, after they closed the blinds to monitor Shona's condition in private, David eventually came out of the room to deliver some good news to his waiting family.
"She's breathing. It worked, she's breathing on her own," he told them, through tears. "I think she's going to be alright."
However, while things are looking much more promising than before, Shona's certainly not out of the woods yet.
"There is brain stem activity, which is a good sign but I've got to urge caution about getting your hopes too high," a nurse later warned David.
"It's still highly likely Shona won't fully recover, and even if she did it's going to be a long road back."
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
