Coronation Street's David Platt is in for a difficult New Year as his wife Shona remains in hospital following the dramatic Christmas Day shooting.

After being caught in the crossfire of Gary Windass' feud with Derek Milligan on Christmas Day, David was warned by doctors that Shona may never make a full recovery from her gunshot wound.

Although she was awake and talking to the Platts after seemingly-successful surgery in Boxing Day's episode, Shona was suddenly rushed into theatre when her condition deteriorated.
