Coronation Street actress Kerri Quinn has opened up about the abuse she has received from online trolls who caused her to quit social media.
The star, who plays Robert Preston's secret lover Vicky Jefferies, talked about the nasty comments she receives online in an interview with the Daily Star.
She said: "People can be brutal and it feels like when they get something in their head they just run with it.
"I've honestly been amazed at how heartless some people can be. Some of the social media things people say are awful.
"It's like they think they can write anything about you no matter how hurtful and brutal."
But, similar to the aftercare process offered by various reality shows, Coronation Street offers its cast members help and guidance if they are being targeted by trolls.

"You're prepped for this stuff now," Quinn added. "They're really on it. There's a lot of support. The crew are amazing."
A spokesperson for the soap added: "Cast can ask for assistance or extra advice at any time."
Recent set filming photos show a huge confrontation between Robert and Michelle Connor after she finds out about his infidelities. Both (Tristan Gemmill (Robert) and Kym Marsh (Michelle) are leaving the soap in the near future.
Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
