The actor, who has played paramedic Jeff Collier since 2007, will bow out on screen later this year.
Casualty's executive producer Oliver Kent commented: "Matt Bardock has given us one of Casualty's all-time favourite characters and we are sad to see him go.
"Jeff Collier has been an iconic action hero for seven years and we have been so lucky to have had him on our team for so long. We wish him all the very best for the future."
Bardock also addressed the news on his Twitter page this morning (June 30) after being flooded with messages from fans who were surprised by the news of his exit.

A new storyline for Jeff will begin on screen this weekend as he meets a new love interest named Samantha, played by former Coronation Street actress Michelle Collins.
