Casualty’s Dylan Keogh suffers a difficult day at work this week following his recent relapse, under the watchful eye of his concerned son Matty. As Dylan battles his alcoholism once again, is there anything Matty can do to help?

There were devastating scenes as struggling Dylan downed a glass of champagne after his keynote speech, with Matty watching on in horror. This week, it is revealed that this relapse turned into a binge that lasted the entire night.

The next morning Dylan wakes up hungover, on the toilet floor of the hotel. Trying to put what happened behind him, he rushes to work in time to start his shift – but comes face to face with Matty.

"Matty immediately confronts his dad and reveals he saw him drinking!" reveals our source. "There’s nowhere to hide for Dylan, and all he can do is claim that this incident was just a one off.

"But Matty, feeling betrayed, continues to worry about his relapse and is determined to keep an eye on his father."

The pair work together as the team treats a woman who suffered serious burns in a house fire. But as Dylan takes charge to carry out a procedure, he experiences traumatic flashbacks to his drinking binge the night before.

While he attempts to push through, eventually Dylan can’t carry on and excuses himself from resus.

Matty finds his dad in the bathroom and comes to his rescue with water and paracetamol. Dylan admits to Matty that his own father was an alcoholic, but their honest conversation soon takes another painful turn…

"While Matty pledges his support to his struggling dad, Dylan responds by pushing him away," says our insider.

"He sadly declares himself a waste of space and refuses help, urging Matty to leave him alone. Matty is left feeling helpless – what can he do when Dylan is in complete self-destruct mode?"

Later, Dylan helps support a vulnerable teenage boy who also has a tough relationship with his parents. Will this encourage Dylan to reconcile with his offspring, and can Matty stop his dad from spiralling further?

Casualty airs on Saturday nights on BBC One and now streams first on BBC iPlayer, where episodes are released at 6am on the day of transmission.
