The paramedics soon arrive and Callum reassures David that the residents will always have his back. However, when Jan's suggests that the explosion could potentially have happened because someone tampered with the gas, David admits he's worried the explosion may actually have been targeted at him.

Despite the dangers, David and Jan follow him in to help – only for the building to fall down around them. The pair struggle to stabilise Callum as the fire service attempt to then save them from their own immediate danger.

As Callum's health starts to worsen, David is forced to perform an emergency tracheotomy to save his life. Overwhelmed with emotion, David opens up to Jan, who reassures him that hes not to blame for what Ollie did.

They're rushed back to the hospital where Jan loses consciousness. Callum then reveals to a worried David that the explosion wasn't his fault, admitting that it was him who messed with the gas meter because he was trying to help Joyce be able to pay her energy bills.
