David Hide will make a huge decision on the day of his son Ollie's funeral in Casualty scenes airing next week.
David is still struggling to forgive himself on the day of Ollie’s funeral, and Dylan is surprised to find him working instead of making plans to say goodbye. Despite Dylan’s concerns, David throws himself into treating a young girl named Millie who's injured after being bitten by her dog, only he can't escape things for too long as Millie's Mum recognises David as the dad of the school shooter.

David leaves the room feeling uneasy over being recognised, which means he unwittingly leaves Millie to her own devices and she starts to wander around the hospital.
David then goes to see Natalia, who's been brought in after experiencing a seizure. Faith then takes her upset out on David and blames Ollie for Natalia’s state of mind.

When David is then accidentally punched by a patient, it's all too much for him and he takes shelter in a cupboard to calm himself down, only to find young Millie hiding there too.
Realising that Millie has a missing finger in her possession that Stevie is searching for but is too scared of him to cooperate, David opens up to the little girl about Ollie, remembering who he was before the horrific shooting.

Millie eventually calms down and returns the finger, but her mum is livid when she finds out Millie has gone missing and ended up in David's care.
Later on, David prepares to leave the hospital just as Faith apologises for her behavior, even offering him support when he tells her he doesn't want to go to the funeral.
After a pep talk from Faith, David decides to head to the church after all.
With his colleagues supporting him, he agrees to say a few words about Ollie. However, things quickly change when the funeral starts and he sees a memorial for one of the shooting victims. Unable to forgive himself or Ollie for what happened, a broken David walks away.
Will he regret not saying a proper goodbye to his son?
