Sherrie Hewson could be returning to the cobbles as Peter Barlow's new love interest. Well, probably not. But she's up for the idea at least.
We last saw her character Maureen Webster on Coronation Street on Christmas Day in 2006. That was when she discovered her husband Bill Webster had been having an affair with Audrey Roberts thanks to David Platt's meddling.
Now she's said she hasn't ruled out a return, and she's got her eye on Chris Gascoyne aka Peter Barlow.
"My heart is still in Coronation Street. I loved it and I don't think the character finished," she said on Lorraine today (December 15).
"I think she could go back. Maybe stronger, she was a bit of a wimp but maybe she could go back and be really strong and throw Kevin out of the garage or something.
"Or have an affair with...I love Chris Gascoyne. I know I'm too old [for him]."

Well, Peter Barlow is no stranger to the odd affair – what with his past life as a bigamist. He has of course said that he's currently single, although it's looking like it may not stay that way for very long.
