The British Soap Awards are officially returning in June after taking a year off in 2024.

It's been confirmed that the ceremony will be pre-recorded again this year, with the live show taking place on May 31 at the Hackney Empire theatre in London, before airing on ITV1 in June.

Singer and presenter Jane McDonald is back to host the event, which will see Coronation Street, EastEnders, Emmerdale and Hollyoaks battle it out for awards that are voted for by either an expert judging panel or the viewing public.

While it hasn't yet been confirmed which categories the soaps and actors will be competing in, we do know that the public vote will open on April 7 and close on April 25.

A shortlist will then be made before voting reopens from May 1 to May 30 in order to determine the winners.

"You all know I love my soaps, so to be in a room giving recognition to all these wonderful actors and their fantastic hard work is simply joyous," she added.

"I can't wait to get my glittery frock on and celebrate with everyone."

Coronation Street was the biggest winner at the 2023 awards, taking home six gongs on the night. Meanwhile, EastEnders was named Best Soap for the first time since 2015.
