JK Rowling has teased the release of her fourth Strike novel.

The author teased fans with a Twitter post on Tuesday morning (February 27) when she alluded that she's found an ending for her private investigator protagonist Cormoran Strike.

"Today, at long last, Strike thinks he knows who did it," Rowling said in the tweet.

And by "did it", we assume Rowling means he finds out who the killer is, which means she must be very near to finishing the novel indeed.

Grab a pen, George RR Martin – this is how not to keep fans waiting for years and years and years for the release of a much-anticipated sequel novel.

Lethal White will be the fourth book in the Strike series, written by JK Rowling under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith.

What to Read Next

It follows the previous books in the series The Cuckoo's Calling, Silkworm and Career of Evil which have all been adapted for television by the BBC.

The first part of the mystery based on third book, Career of Evil, premiered on Sunday evening (February 25) to a positive response.

In fact, viewers enjoyed it so much, they were outraged when it was revealed they would have to wait until next week for the second part, following the sequential weeknight episodes of the first two mysteries.

We guess they won't like the wait for Lethal White then... Especially considering it's yet to actually *get* a release date.

Strike: Career of Evil continues on Sunday (March 4) on BBC One.
