The first trailer for Sydney Sweeney and Jude Law's new film Eden has been released, but in a rather unexpected way.

Directed by Solo: A Star Wars Story helmer Ron Howard, the film is a survival thriller that also stars Ana de Armas, Vanessa Kirby, Daniel Brühl, and Richard Roxburgh. It follows a group of European settlers who arrived on the Ecuadorian island of Floreana.

Although it's directed by an American director with a big-name English speaking cast, the only trailer currently available online is the German-dubbed one.

That's because the film doesn't have a distributor and/or English-language release date yet, and is currently only set for a release in Germany, with Leonine Studios releasing it in April.

People did get a chance to see the film in English, as it was screened at the Toronto International Film Festival. From the critics' reviews from the festival, Eden sits at a middling Rotten Tomatoes score of 57%.

What to Read Next

A common theme amongst the more negative reviews is that the film is quite unmemorable, and the talented cast don't get a lot to do with their characters. More positive reviews have praised de Armas for a fun, campy performance that leans into black comedy and elevates the film around her.

Looking ahead, Sweeney has recently been filming The Housemaid, from Bridesmaids and Last Christmas director Paul Feig.

The film follows a woman who gets a job working for a wealthy couple (played by Amanda Seyfried and Brandon Sklenar) and discovers their dark secrets.

She's also landed a role in A24's Edgar Allan Poe adaptation The Masque of the Red Death.

Eden releases in Germany in April. It does not currently have a release date in other territories.
