Drop looks set to be one of 2025's best thrillers if the entertaining first trailer, which you can watch above, is anything to go by.

The movie is directed by Christopher Landon who has previously delivered high-concept horrors Freaky and Happy Death Day. Here, he turns his attention to the terror of first dates.

Drop sees Meghann Fahy star as widowed mother Violet who has finally decided to take the plunge and go on a first date with Henry (It Ends With Us star Brandon Sklenar).

It all seems to be going well, until Violet gets an anonymous message on her phone that threatens the life of her son if she doesn't play along or if she tries to get help. The game? To kill Henry.

Of course, Violet does try to get help because who wouldn't, but the trailer teases some of the repercussions of her actions as people in the restaurant start to die around her.

And while the title of Drop refers to the anonymous drops to her phone, the trailer ends with a big set piece that sees Violet in danger of literally dropping to her death from the restaurant's window.

If you want to see how it all plays out, Drop is released in cinemas on April 11.

Drop also stars Violett Beane, Jacob Robinson and Ed Weeks, and is produced by Platinum Dunes and Blumhouse.

Before he was confirmed to direct Drop in February 2024, Christopher Landon was set to direct Scream 7. He later left that horror sequel in December 2023, referring to it as a "dream job that turned into a nightmare".

"I have nothing more to add to the conversation other than I hope Wes [Craven's] legacy thrives and lifts above the din of a divided world," he added.

Drop is released in cinemas on April 11.
