The iconic Spice World is finally getting a streaming release – so Spice Girls fans, rejoice! The film, which was originally released at the height of Spicemania in 1997, has become a bit of a cult classic over the years.

The movie follows the group as they get caught in a series of wacky events in the lead up to a major concert, all while a villainous newspaper owner tries to destroy their reputation.

While fans have been unable to stream it, Mel C has given an exciting update, revealing that the Spice Girls now own the rights.

"It’s not available at the moment," she noted on The Louis Theroux Podcast. "It will be, because there were a lot of people that owned it. It was kind of all over the place.

"So we've had to come together. The Spice Girls now fully own it, so we will be presenting it at some point in hopefully the not too distant future for people to enjoy."

We certainly can't wait to catch it again.

Reflecting on her memories of making Spice World, Mel shared that the versions we see of the five members on screen "was really how we were".

"That was our experience," she added. "You know, we'd been out there, we'd been promoting for a year when we sat down and the movie was being written. So a lot of those experiences that are the through line of the movie were the things that we were experiencing."

The Spice Girls last reunited in 2019 for a UK and Ireland tour, though that time as a four-piece without Victoria Beckham.

Meanwhile, last month Mel B addressed rumours that Netflix axed a planned documentary about the band.

Speaking on Good Morning Britain, the singer admitted: "Well, I don't think anything is happening. I think something was but I don't think it's actually gonna be happening now after all. Which is a shame."

When pressed on why things halted, she added: "I'll tell you in the dressing room."
