Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey will truly be an epic, as the film's runtime has been revealed. The highly-anticipated work, which lands in cinemas on 17 July, will be just shy of three hours in length.
It is 172 minutes long to be exact, though it's still not the longest film in the director's impressive catalogue. That particular honour belongs to his previous work, Oppenheimer, which clocked in at exactly three hours (via the Irish Film Classification Office).
The fantasy epic, which is based on Homer's Odyssey, has a 12a certificate in Ireland with the BBFC certification still to be confirmed for the UK. These details were confirmed ahead of the eagerly-awaited world premiere, which takes place in London on Monday (6 July).

Holland, who will also be seen on the big screen this summer in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, previously described the fantasy epic as an "absolute masterpiece," adding that it was "unlike anything that I've ever seen before".
The actor also heaped praise on Nolan for preferring practical work over digital effects, noting: "Fans are going to be really blown away by the set pieces and sequences throughout the movie.

"Even as someone that was there on the day and was in the film, I was absolutely blown away by the scale, the scope, his [Nolan's] ability to navigate such an intricate and heartfelt story in the middle of this insane kind of action movie.
"So it's one of my proudest achievements as an actor and I'm so touched that Chris gave me the opportunity to be in the film," added Holland. "I really think that people are going to be floored by the film."
The Odyssey is released in cinemas on 17 July.
