Enola Holmes 3 finally arrives on Netflix this week after a four-year wait for fans, and it's all change for Enola as she prepares for her wedding to Lord Tewkesbury. But before she can say "I do", or even "Tis I", her brother Sherlock is kidnapped and she must solve the case.

The stage is set for what fans might fear could be the ending of the series, especially with its lead stars Millie Bobby Brown and Louis Partridge two of the most in-demand young actors around. But fear not, this isn't the end... or at least it won't be if they have anything to do with it.

"I'll be there if Netflix is," Brown – who also produces the series – told Digital Spy in an exclusive chat ahead of Enola Holmes 3's release.

Given the third movie has Enola preparing for a wedding, we joked that the next movies could follow Enola at other life stages. "Oh my goodness, yeah, Enola as a mum, that would be crazy," Brown responded, with Partridge adding: "I'll do one in like 50 years or something."

Perhaps a future movie could see Lord Tewkesbury get in on the fourth wall-breaking that has become a defining feature of the series. Partridge told us that he did have an idea for Tewkesbury breaking the fourth wall in Enola Holmes 3, but never got it over the line.

"My theory was that, you see, their consciousnesses have fused, and so it would make sense if Tewkesbury looked too, and it would be like a little whoa moment. Anyway, it got shot down, I didn't even get as far as I got now," he noted.

It's not as easy as it looks though and has some unexpected consequences, as Brown recalled: "After Enola Holmes, after filming it, I had to go and do a romance movie and the night before I had my first day on the romance movie I had a dream that I couldn't stop looking in the camera, but it was a nightmare.

"I started crying, the director said, 'Please stop looking at the camera', and apparently I was just like staring to this camera. The next day I woke up I was like, 'Oh my God, I'm so terrified'. The dreams of an actor are so unbelievably mundane. I do feel those things deeply, [and] it can sometimes be hard to go from that and then to not being able to at all."

Even without Tewkesbury looking into the camera with his beloved Enola, the third movie again showcases the on-screen chemistry between its lead stars. It might have been four years, but all it took was a pre-filming announcement video for them to get back into the Enola and Tewkesbury mindset.

"When you're in that kind of environment, you fall right back into it. [I'm] very, very lucky," Brown noted, with Partridge adding: "To announce that we'd started shooting, we created this video, this five-minute-long one-take video that we all posted on our Instagram.

"We completely improvised in the space of about half an hour. It was so much fun. I suppose that was our prep. That was it."

Here's hoping Enola Holmes 3 is a big enough hit for Netflix that the movie won't be the last time we get to see Enola and Tewkesbury vibing on screen.

Enola Holmes 3 is released on Netflix on Wednesday 1 July. Enola Holmes and Enola Holmes 2 are available to watch now.
