Tom Cruise's upcoming film Digger has finally released its first look, giving us a glimpse of the actor like we've never seen him before. Digger sees Cruise team with Birdman and The Revenant filmmaker Alejandro González Iñárritu, on what's been described as a "a comedy of catastrophic proportions".
In case you'd forgotten what Cruise looks like, the new footage opens with a lengthly montage of clips from the actor's illustrious career with Top Gun, Jerry Maguire, Mission Impossible and even Interview with the Vampire in the mix.
We then hear the voice of Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning's Eugene Kittridge saying: "Everything you are, everything you've done, has come to this," before we get our first shot from Digger.

Dire Strait's 'Money for Nothing' then plays as we see Cruise's character Digger Rockwell from behind walking into a building with a glass roof as he's greeted by an angry mob of people.
Rockwell is then shown dressed in a suit with a massive cowboy hat, saying: "When all else fails, you hit 'em with the truth. Hit 'em with the hard truth."

Alongside Cruise, Digger also stars Riz Ahmed, John Goodman, Sandra Hüller, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Jesse Plemons.
The film's synopsis reads: "Digger tells the tale of the most powerful man in the world as he embarks on a frantic mission to prove he is humanity's savior before the disaster he's unleashed destroys everything."

Speaking during CinemaCon 2026 in April, Iñárritu said (via People): "Watching Tom Cruise becoming Digger Rockwell, I was not prepared for that."
Noting that Cruise was known for his "fearless" stunt work in the Mission Impossible films, Iñárritu added: "Embodying this character, this is another kind of fearless… this role could be his most challenging, high-wire act."
Cruise himself said of the film "it's wild, it's funny, and I can't wait for you all to see it".
Digger arrives in cinemas on 2 October.
