Tom Hiddleston has built up an impressive movie CV over the years, and among the highlights is his impressive dystopian thriller High-Rise, which is definitely one to catch if you're looking for something good to watch this evening.

Released in 2015, the film is based on JG Ballard's book of the same and follows residents in a luxury tower block in London. Seen through the eyes of new resident Robert Laing (Hiddleston), tensions start to rise between the residents in the block as things start to descend into chaos.

The movie comes from Ben Wheatley, who has helmed a variety of different movies including Sightseers, Rebecca and Meg 2: The Trench, while long-term collaborator and spouse Amy Jump wrote the screenplay.

Empire further labelled it "batshit crazy", adding: "Don’t expect a thriller in the seat-edge sense, but you will be thrilled – and repulsed – by this bold, faithful adaptation of Ballard’s ever-prescient picture of First World strife."

However, Variety suggested: "It could take decades for critics and audiences to appreciate whatever genius lurks behind the chaos, but for the time being, it seems like little more than madness."
