If you're looking to add a bit of excitement to your Monday, then you're in luck as Tom Hardy's "captivating" crime thriller The Drop is on TV tonight if you fancy a movie watch to kickstart your week.

Set in Brooklyn, The Drop follows quiet barman Bob Saginowski (Hardy), whose establishment is frequently used by the mafia to conduct their shady deals.

Bob finds himself in the middle of a dangerous investigation when the bar gets robbed by masked intruders one day. With the angry mobsters breathing down his neck, how far will Bob go to recover the stolen money?

If that sounds like something you want to see, The Drop is airing tonight at 10.50pm on Film4. However, it doesn't look like one of the movies that will then be added to Channel 4's streaming service, but maybe we'll have a nice surprise on Tuesday morning.

But if you miss it on TV, The Drop is also available to watch right now at any time on Disney+. Subscriptions for the streaming service start from £4.99 per month for its ad-supported level.

The Sopranos' James Gandolfini also appears posthumously, as The Drop was released following his death in 2013.

Despite being over a decade old, The Drop currently boasts an 88% score on Rotten Tomatoes from 198 reviews. Critics praised the impressive performance and strong storytelling, with The Guardian calling it a " gripping drama".

Meanwhile, over on IMDB, one user described the movie as "intelligent" and "captivating", with a "dark and melancholic atmosphere".

Another branded it a "must-see", adding: "Tom Hardy is magnificent as Bob - totally American; he is truly film's male chameleon, believable as a quiet bartender who tries to stay out of the way."

The Drop airs tonight at 10.50pm on Film4 and is available to watch right now on Disney+.
