Screenwriter Dana Fox has revealed which Wicked: For Good scene was cut for being "romantic and beautiful, but a little too passionate". Speaking with Deadline, Fox, who co-wrote the screenplay for Wicked with Winnie Holzman, was asked if there was one moment which she wished had been included in the final cut of part two.

"I don't think there's anything that I wish we hadn't cut because everything we cut, I felt we cut for exactly the right reasons. There are some beautiful things I'm sure will be in the deleted scenes," she said.

"Perhaps, there is a scene that I don't know if it will be included. There was a scene between Fiyero and Glinda that we cut in which they kissed; it was romantic and beautiful, but a little too passionate.

"Seeing that made it too hard to watch him make the choice he makes to be with Elphaba and made it too hard to make it ok that Elphaba ran off with him. It was too real that he and Glinda were actually feeling something together."

"It was like a feeling that he really did love her, which he does care about Glinda a lot, don't get me wrong," Fox continued.

"But he likes her in a different way. But this scene was too romantic, so it was like, 'Oh, we can't know that because then our brains will explode when he doesn't choose her in the end. And then we'll hate Elphaba, Glinda and Fiyero.' So, I think it was a good cut because it was too adorable that you simply couldn't handle it."

Following the release of Wicked: For Good, which landed in UK cinemas on 21 November, members of the cast and crew have been sharing secrets from behind the scenes. Appearing on the Shut Up Evan podcast, Ariana Grande, who portrays Glinda, revealed that one scene was almost cut until director Jon M Chu fought for it.

Pointing to the moment where Glinda and Elphaba say goodbye in the castle, Grande said: "It was a really heavy day. There was actually a conversation about… certain people wanted to cut that shot. Jon was like, 'This is the movie. There is no question about it.'

"I was so grateful for how fiercely he advocated for those honest moments," she continued. "It's one of the most beautiful and connected moments in both of the movies. I'm so grateful that it's there. It's tough. It was very hard emotionally."
