The film, titled Taylor Swift: The Official Release Party of a Showgirl, serves as a celebration of the singer-songwriter's 12th studio album, with the special event including a brand new music video and Swift's own reflections on her new songs.

After being formally announced earlier this month, the special event has already grossed over $15 million in presale tickets just 24 hours after going on sale, with more purchases set to be made in the lead-up to its release (via Deadline).

The film will be released worldwide on 3 October, and will be in cinemas for a very limited time until 5 October. In the UK, major chains such as Odeon, Cineworld and Picturehouse have opened sales, so be sure to check out the listings now!

As per the logline, the 89-minute feature includes the world premiere of the music video for the album's first single, 'The Fate of Ophelia', with behind-the-scenes footage of the shoot also being featured.

Furthermore, the film will have lyric videos for other songs from the album, while Swift will also deliver "cut by cut explanations" and "personal reflections" of her inspiration for the music on her latest project.

Swift announced the project on Friday (19 September) with a post on Instagram, with the singer-songwriter beginning: "I hereby invite you to a *dazzling* soirée, The Official Release Party of a Showgirl.

"Looks like it’s time to brush off that Eras Tour outfit or orange cardigan… Tickets are on sale now. Dancing is optional but very much encouraged 💃" continued the musician, whose first album was released in 2006.

Speaking about ticket sales for the upcoming film, a Vue spokesperson said: “Within seconds of releasing tickets, we added several additional screenings to meet demand, and once again we have seen records broken, with UK first day pre-sales currently tracking 40% ahead of her Eras Tour at Vue over the same period.

"Judging by these presale numbers, we expect this could be our biggest ever opening week for a musical event.”

The Official Release Party of a Showgirl isn't the first project of the singer's to hit the big screen, with concert film Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour grossing over $267 million worldwide after being released in cinemas in 2023.

In addition to box office success, the film - which covered Swift's mega-successful concert tour - proved to be a hit with critics, with Rotten Tomatoes currently reporting a near-perfect approval rating of 98% from 96 reviews.
