Argo, the Oscar-winning thriller helmed by Ben Affleck, has found a new streaming home on Prime Video.
Available to watch in the UK and Ireland, the film boasts a stellar cast with Bryan Cranston, Alan Arkin, John Goodman, Victor Garber, Tate Donovan, Kyle Chandler and Chris Messina joining Affleck.
Originally released in 2012, Argo is based on the story of the Canadian Caper – a real-life covert mission greenlit by the Government of Canada and the US Central Intelligence Agency which sought to rescue six American diplomats in Iran.
"On November 4, 1979, militants storm the US embassy in Tehran, Iran, taking 66 American hostages. Amid the chaos, six Americans manage to slip away and find refuge with the Canadian ambassador," explains the synopsis.
"Knowing that it's just a matter of time before the refugees are found and likely executed, the US government calls on extractor Tony Mendez (Affleck) to rescue them. Mendez's plan is to pose as a Hollywood producer scouting locations in Iran and train the refugees to act as his 'film' crew."

Following Argo's release, the film was a box office success and received widespread critical acclaim, picking up three Oscars - including Best Picture and Best Adapted Screenplay - at the 85th Academy Awards in 2013.
Currently, the film holds a Certified Fresh rating of 96% on Rotten Tomatoes from 360 reviews, with the Chicago Sun-Times describing it as "both spellbinding and surprisingly funny".
"Let's just say that the movie's final section is so nail-bitingly tense, thanks to a skilful combination of acting, writing and crosscutting, that it puts Affleck in the big leagues as a director," added TheWrap.
