Adrift, the "absorbing" real-life drama starring Sam Claflin and Shailene Woodley, has landed on Prime Video.
Originally released in 2018, the story follows Tami Oldham (Woodley), a woman who quickly falls for sailor Richard Sharp (Claflin) and agrees to accompany him on a boat trip across the Pacific to San Diego in 1983. When Hurricane Raymond strikes, however, the pair are forced to fight for survival.
Produced and directed by Baltasar Kormákur, the filmmaker behind Contraband (2012) and 2 Guns (2013), the movie also stars Jeffrey Thomas, Elizabeth Hawthorne and Grace Palmer.
Currently, Adrift holds a rating of 69% on Rotten Tomatoes, with critics penning mixed reviews.
"A simple, acutely observed love story that also happens to be a rousingly stripped-down tale of survival," wrote Slant Magazine.

Meanwhile, Us Weekly argued: "While it doesn't exactly make a big splash, this entry appeals as a pure, noble and thrilling true-life adventure."

In an interview with E!, Claflin and Woodley were asked about their palpable on-screen chemistry.
"I think we're very, very similar people and have very similar beliefs and work in this very similar way, and you can't ask for a better co-star, really—can you, Shailene?" joked Claflin.
"We laughed a lot and we cried a lot and we supported each other a lot," Woodley recalled.
Before shooting Adrift, Claflin was determined to learn how to sail, and did so in just over a week.
“We only had, like, ten days prep before we started filming, so it was kind of 'learn on the job' for me, but one that I kind of embraced with open arms. I loved every aspect of it,” he mused to Cosmopolitan.
Adrift is currently available to stream on Prime Video.
