Simon Pegg is ready to "really disappoint everyone" with his next reunion with Shaun of the Dead director Edgar Wright.
Pegg made three films – Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, The World's End – and the series Spaced with Wright and co-star Nick Frost, and fans have continuously called for a sequel to the zombie horror comedy.
In an interview with Variety, Pegg said that he and Wright are likely to work together again, but it won't be a Shaun 2.
"It's lovely to be asked, and the following that film has is the best you can hope for as a filmmaker," he said.
"But Shaun is a story with a beginning, middle and end, and it's a story that to add to it – like Alien 3 did to Aliens – might end up detracting from the original.
"So certainly when Edgar and I make our next film, we're gonna really disappoint everybody."

This interview came while Pegg was promoting the latest Mission: Impossible film (which could be the last). While promoting the previous film in that series, he also spoke about a Shaun sequel, although his comments were a little more pointed then.
"If I ever do an Instagram Live or whatever, people are always like, 'I need Shaun of the Dead 2 in my life'," he said.
"And I'm like, 'No, you don’t f**king need Shaun of the Dead 2! The last thing you need is Shaun of the Dead 2! It's done. Move on!'"

He continued: "This culture of infantilised adulthood, all these grown-ass men arguing about f**king superheroes online, and meanwhile the world is falling apart in so many different ways.
"And that’s why we will all go to hell. Because no one will grow the f**k up any more. Everybody's so plugged into being a child, you know?"
