I Know What You Did Last Summer's upcoming sequel is set to turn the horror "up to a hundred".

Directed by Do Revenge's Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, the upcoming movie revisits the plot of original 1997 horror classic – but with a twist.

A new group of friends find themselves terrorised by a hook-wielding killer a year after they are bound together by a car accident, but they soon discover this nightmare has happened before and turn to the two survivors of the 1997 Southport Massacre for help.

During a new interview with People, Robinson said the film is "not serious" and described it as "a really fun, popcorn summer event".

However, she added that the horror elements are "ratcheted up to a hundred", making it "much more brutal" than its predecessor.

Jennifer Love Hewitt, who is reprising her role as Julie James from the first movie, agreed and described the sequel as "terrifying".

The actor also opened up about her reunion with Freddie Prinze Jr, who is returning as fellow Southport Massacre survivor Ray Bronson.
