Leonardo DiCaprio's mysterious new movie One Battle After Another has been teased in a first look released by Warner Bros. Pictures.

Starring DiCaprio, Regina Hall, Teyana Taylor and Sean Penn, the film, from director and writer Paul Thomas Anderson, will debut in cinemas on September 26.

While we know next to nothing about the plot, the new teaser trailer, which you can view here, gives fans a glimpse of what to expect.

As the trailer begins, DiCaprio can be seen sipping on a beer. Gunfire startles him and it becomes clear he is watching a heavily pregnant woman shoot some sort of machine gun.

The woman seemingly gives birth to the baby as a voiceover asks DiCaprio's character: "What are you gonna do about this baby?"

Per the trailer, the clip cuts to a grown-up child, presumably the baby, learning to fire the same gun in a field surrounded by people dressed as nuns.

Clearly older, as he is now sporting a beard and long hair, DiCaprio looks down on the action using his gun sight and Penn's character is seen dragging the young woman away while she screams.

"Just when you think you got a handle on things," DiCaprio says and the clip ends.

Little was known about the upcoming film prior to the teaser's release, with Deadline previously reporting that "it is a contemporary setting and it is the most commercial one [director] Paul Thomas Anderson has attempted, with commensurate budget."

As teased at the end of the clip, the full trailer is set for release next week, meaning more details about the plot might become clear.
