Liam Neeson started his second career (of sorts) as an action star with 2008's Taken, and you can rewatch the action classic tonight.

In case you needed reminding, Taken sees Neeson play ex-CIA officer Bryan Mills who has to dust off his particular set of skills when his teenage daughter Kim (Maggie Grace) and her best friend Amanda (Katie Cassidy) are kidnapped while on holiday in France.

It was a huge hit with more than $225 million worldwide and spawned two not-very-good sequels and a prequel TV series that was also not very good.

But the first movie remains an action classic and if you fancy a rewatch – or, somehow, have never even seen it – Taken airs tonight (January 17) at 9pm on Film4.

Back in 2016, Neeson shot down the possibility of a fourth Taken movie. "There's only so many times your daughter can be taken," he joked. "Actually if we do have another it will be, 'Please can you take my daughter'?"

But he's been busy with plenty of other action movies, such as In the Land of Saints and Sinners, which is available to watch now on Netflix.

Taken airs tonight (January 17) at 9pm on Film4.
