Directed by Will Sharpe (who co-wrote with Simon Stephenson), The Electrical Life of Louis Wain saw Cumberbatch play eccentric artist Louis Wain, famous for his drawings of cats that often displayed human traits.
The magical and moving biopic also stars Claire Foy as Wain's wife Emily Richardson, with the cast also featuring Aimee Lou Wood, Toby Jones, Andrea Riseborough, Sophia Di Martino and Olivia Colman as the movie's narrator.

Ahead of its cinema release in 2022, Cumberbatch spoke to Digital Spy about having a "profound regard" for playing a real-life person, comparing it to his role as Alan Turing in The Imitation Game.
"It's a nice task to bring someone into the limelight who hasn't necessarily had much of it in recent times, although he was very famous in his moment," he explained.

"And the same with Alan Turing, I guess, as a comparison. Both of them, I felt immediately, emotionally, very rawly connected to it in certain regards.
"There's a lot of joy and love and laughter and lightness and success and happiness in both of their lives, but there's also some very lonely, isolating and depressing places to exist in."
