Inside Out 2 has achieved another major milestone, becoming the biggest movie of the year.
After a hugely successful debut at the box office, the animated sequel has become the highest-grossing movie of 2024 so far.
The movie raked in an impressive $100 million during its second weekend in cinemas, the highest number recorded for an animated movie. So far, the sequel has grossed $355 million in North America and $724 million globally.

Inside Out fans were eagerly awaiting the release of the second instalment, earning the movie more during its second weekend than its predecessor earned when it first opened.
After surpassing Dune: Part Two as the highest-grossing movie of the year, Inside Out 2 is set to cross $1 billion in the coming weeks. Its domestic preview was also the biggest of the year to date ($13 million), again outperforming the Dune sequel ($12 million).

Elsewhere at the box office, Bad Boys: Ride or Die held strong in second place, earning $19 million from 3,781 locations during its third weekend. The fourth instalment of the franchise has grossed $147 million in North America and $289.1 million globally.
Inside Out 2 takes fans back into Riley's mind and introduces four new emotions into the chaos. Though Amy Poehler (Joy), Phyllis Smith (Sadness) and Lewis Black (Anger) have all reprised their roles, newcomers Tony Hale and Liza Lapira have taken over as Fear and Disgust.
Alongside the original five, Riley will be faced with Anxiety (Maya Hawke), Envy (Ayo Edebiri), Ennui (Adèle Exarchopoulos) and Embarrassment (Paul Walter Hauser), as she tries to navigate her teenage years.
