The 2014 Golden Joysticks have passed 1.5 million public votes, it has been revealed.

Marking a year-on-year increase in voting, the milestone was achieved in just three weeks.

Elsewhere, Twitch has been announced as the official streaming partner, while Destiny has been added to five categories.

Destiny is now up for Game of the Year, Best Online Game, Best Audio, Best Visual Design and Best Original Game in association with Digital Spy.

This year's awards take place in a new venue, the Indig02, on Friday October 24.

As well as 16 publicly voted awards, a new category - the Most Played Award - will be calculated by the most played games on games service Playfire in the past year.

Nominated games include Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag, Day Z, Super Mario 3D World and Titanfall.
