Orphan Black creators Graeme Manson and John Fawcett have warned us that we'll need tissues for the upcoming finale.

The excellent sci-fi show's five-season run comes to an end this weekend as we finally find out if Sarah (Tatiana Maslany) and the rest of the sestras make it out alive – and now we're worried that they won't.

"I would say trips to Costco for bulk Kleenex would be good, some very strong fortified wine perhaps, some brandy," joked (we hope) Manson to EW, adding that he's seen it a lot already and "I choke up every time".

"I'm pretty cried out, but you never know," explained Fawcett. "In a way, it's sad to see the end of the road, with all of our fans and Clone Club behind us. But at the same time, I'm just really excited to show the work."

Following the shock death of Mrs S (Maria Doyle Kennedy) in episode eight, the penultimate episode ended on a cliffhanger with Helena about to give birth to her twins and PT Westmoreland still on the hunt for our favourite clones.

"We've really got a fantastic finale that plays out our entire series end game. We've put our characters in the deepest, darkest hole, and they now have to get out," teased Manson.

"Tatiana has spent so long inhabiting this world of sestras so we're really interested in paying it off for Clone Club in a way that honours the sisters and the fandom. But we're not a show that's ever gone easy on the emotions."

Orphan Black's series finale airs on BBC America on Saturday night (August 12) and arrives on Netflix in the UK on Sunday (August 13).
