Marvel's Jessica Jones star Krysten Ritter has been cast in the lead role for the upcoming Orphan Black spin-off series, Orphan Black: Echoes.

Taking place a few years after the original series ended in 2017, Echoes is set to explore the "scientific manipulation of human existence" through the entangled lives of a group of women who find themselves suddenly thrust into each others' lives.

Ritter will play Lucy, "a woman with an unimaginable origin story, trying to find her place in the world".

The Emmy-winning actress is next set to star as the titular character in Marvel's upcoming series She-Hulk: Attorney At Law.

The legal comedy follows Bruce Banner's (Mark Ruffalo) cousin Jennifer Walters (Maslany), a lawyer who inherits Hulk powers after she receives a blood transfusion from the Avengers hero.

Orphan Black: Echoes will premiere in 2023. She-Hulk: Attorney At Law will stream from August 17 on Disney+.
