When Pretty Little Liars wrapped up forever in June, it answered most of the questions fans had over the years and did a fairly decent job of explaining that whole Uber A business.

There was, however, one mystery left unsolved. A mystery that would have haunted PLL viewers for all eternity and/or inspired many a fan fiction explanation: How did the moms get out of the basement?

Thankfully, you may now rest easy, because showrunner Marlene King has finally answered this question once and for all.

While visiting the Warner Bros studios this week, Shay Mitchell aka Emily Fields stopped by Marlene's office and asked her one more time to please settle this debate.

"They were in there a long time and they had to probably climb on top of each other," Marlene said on Shay's Instagram story. "Pam, who didn't drink for a year, she had to take her clothes off, and they put oil all over her and they slid her out of the window."

So there you have it. Emily's mother Pam Fields, played by Nia Peeples, saved the day.

We don't think Marlene was just sucking up to Shay, either, because Pam was always the only semi-competent parent in Rosewood. It makes total sense that she'd be the one to figure out a real solution to the moms' dilemma.

If only she could have figured out how to make her daughter stop doing stuff like "lose her phone in an abandoned school while being pursued by a murderer".
