MacGyver is coming back to TV, with a remake focussing on the secret agent's early years.
Furious 7 director James Wan and NCIS: Los Angeles exec producer R Scott Gemmill are behind the update of the '80s action-adventure show, which is heading to CBS.
The new series would follow Angus MacGyver - originally played by Richard Dean Anderson - in his 20s, as he learns the ropes of averting disaster.
Wan and Gemmill are producing MacGyver alongside CBS TV Studios' Michael Clear and Henry Winkler, who produced the original series.
It aired on ABC for seven seasons between 1985 and 1992. Two TV movies, MacGyver: Lost Treasure of Atlantis and MacGyver: Trail to Doomsday, aired in 1994.
A spinoff series, Young MacGyver, was in the works in 2003, but only the pilot was made.
Director Wan is also working on a movie version of MacGyver. It is unclear yet if this new TV series would affect the film.
