Netflix has released the first teaser trailer for Stranger Things' fifth and final season — and there's a lot to unpack.

The almost three-minute video sees all of your favourite Hawkins High characters back and ready to take on Vecna (Jamie Bower Campbell), with a first look at Terminator legend Linda Hamilton, whose joined the cast for the upcoming finale.

Little details have been shared of Hamilton's role, except for her character's name Dr Kay, who is seen briefly in the trailer entering a room flanked by armed SWAT team members.

Suited up with a coiffed '80s hairstyle to boot, she storms into the room and raises her gun — but is she a goodie or a bad guy?

Following on from the events of the season 4 finale, the trailer sees Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) pay a visit to the late Eddie's grave (Joseph Quinn), confirming his death after being eaten alive by Vecna's demobats.

Meanwhile, Max (Sadie Sink) remains in hospital in a coma after Vecna's attack, with an anxious Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin) by her bedside hoping for a recovery.

In a tender moment, Joyce (Winona Ryder) and Hopper (David Harbour) are teased growing closer, staring into each other's eyes while sat facing each other on a bed. Will they end up together?

Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) and Mike's (Finn Wolfhard) romantic relationship also looks to be going strong, but it appears they're part of different groups taking action to collaboratively close the Upside Down.

Mike, Lucas, Dustin and Will (Noah Schnapp) share a high five team huddle moment after assembling their plan, while Eleven is seen paired up with surrogate dad Hopper.

Steve (Joe Keery) is still working alongside ex-girlfriend Nancy (Natalie Dyer) and her new boyfriend Jonathon (Charlie Heaton) to bring Vecna down. Then there's the return of the Russian — Brett Gelman's Murray Bauman — who is seen alongside Maya Hawke's Robin.

Tears are shed, scared expressions are aplenty and there's a few frightening Demogorgons chasing our fan-favourites, before the teaser culminates with the return of the looming Vecna. "Found you," he booms, before unleashing fire out of his hands.

The final season of Stranger Things is being split into three volumes, with the first four episodes set to arrive on 26 November. The next three episodes will release on Christmas Day (25 December), while the finale arrives on 31 December.

Stranger Things seasons 1-4 are streaming on Netflix. Season five premieres on 26 November. Stranger Things: The First Shadow is now booking until 7 September 2025 at the Phoenix Theatre in London. Tickets are available now.
