Ciara Renee has been cast as DC Comics hero Hawkgirl in the upcoming Arrow and Flash spinoff.
The CW is currently working on a superhero team-up series featuring The Atom (Brandon Routh) and Sara Lance (Caity Lotz) from Arrow, as well as The Flash's Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller), Heat Wave (Dominic Purcell) and Firestorm (Victor Garber).
The latest casting for the potential series is Broadway veteran Renee as Hawkgirl, according to Deadline.
Hawkgirl first appeared in DC Comics during the publisher's Golden Age in the 1940s, taking on more prominence in the ensuing decades as a member of the Justice League and the all-female Birds of Prey.
Renee will be playing the Kendra Saunders version of Hawkgirl, whose mystical powers include reincarnation and the ability to sprout wings.
The actress is primarily known for her stage work, having starred on Broadway in Big Fish and Pippin.
Arrow and Flash's spinoff has previously been described as a superhero version of classic Western film The Magnificent Seven, and is expected to include DC characters never before seen on television.
